Mr Stephen Seaka

Managing Executive: ABSA CIB

Mr Stephen Seaka is an Executive Member at Absa CIB, who has served in several senior management positions in banking. Most recently he was the Head of Public Sector Group (CIB and RBB) and served on the board of Absa Vehicle Management Systems. His expertise landed him recognition within the bank to head Inclusive Growth Solution, which oversees Public Sector and Empowerment Financing. His academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from WITS University, a B.Com from the University of South Africa and he has completed his CFA up to Level 2. Mr Seaka has over 20 years of investment banking experience. He left Standard Bank in 2002, joined the treasury department of AngloGold Ashanti, and was responsible for one of the biggest hedge books in the world. He re-joined Standard Bank treasury/global markets division in 2006 to be part of the structuring teams ranging from Foreign Exchange, commodities and interest rates. During 2010, whilst still at Standard Bank, he was promoted to head up the Energy, Power & Infrastructure and Emerging Business & Strategic Investment Sectors given his extensive networks and deep understanding of the sector.

Mr Seaka is also widely recognised as a leader at The Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals (ABSIP) where he serves as the Deputy President and previously served as the Secretary General. He also leads the Employment Equity Forum at Absa CIB.
